It looks like younger faces are in the offing for the KMT. Lien has announced he will step down at some unspecified point in the future as a result of the calamitous weekend riot. In fact, party leaders urged the concept of ‘localization’ as the new ideology.
Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng (王金平) and Taipei City Mayor Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) appears to be slated for the new leadership spots in the KMT.
Now, this is a wise move as it is time to give the kids here in Taiwan a new alternative to Chen if they choose and beats the hell out of go nowhere demonstrations designed to tear things down instead of building things up.
Who knows? Maybe Ma and Wang among others can start the reinvention of the party.
